I’ve always thought Drew and I lived a pretty “organic lifestyle”. Over the last few years, we made a lot of changes to the way we live. We use non-toxic cleaning products and body care. We walk or take the scooter instead of the car when possible. We turn off lights and unplug appliances when not in use. Of course, we recycle… And when it came to grocery shopping, we’d buy organic. When it wasn’t that much more expensive or inconvenient, that is. There it is, my dirty little secret is out. I knew organic was better, but I convinced myself that I could thoroughly wash the waxes and sprays off…
But the more I read and thought about what’s truly important in life, the more I realized that the food I put in my body must be the highest quality – regardless of cost. But if you grow your own, the cost is minimal!
Organic farmers are held to higher standards and respect our water sources – the don’t leach pollutants from their soil. Organic foods are essential, not only for what they don’t contain (pesticides, herbicides, hormones), but for what they do – more nutritional value and flavor!
