Red leaf lettuce, broccoli, spinach

Sorry, I’ve been slacking off with my posts.  With the Thanksgiving holiday everything slows down a bit – except our garden! A weeks worth of sunshine and a couple days of rain really got things going. It’s so exciting. The broccoli’s taller, the lettuce & spinach leaves are wider, the strawberry plants are living up to their variety name, “Sequoia” and the mint is growing like a weed. I can hardly keep myself from taking a bite of lettuce. We want to plant more – if it’s not too late. It’s kinda addicting. Another green – Swiss Chard, maybe? And a little herb garden, too – thyme, rosemary, sage… Just add parsley you’ve got a hippie song from the sixties.

Anyway, we’re going to re-pot the mint today. It’s already outgrown it’s original pot. Mint is best grown in a container because of it’s tendency to “take over” when planted in ground. (And because we’re renting, we want everything portable.) Drew wants to take a cutting a start another plant. At the rate mint grows it’ll make a great Christmas gift in a cute pot. Think of the fresh mint in a hot cup of tea or better yet – cocoa. Yum.

Mint Coca anyone?

Mint Coca anyone?
