A big part of our desire to “grow organic meals” was to eat more healthy greens after we completed a week long cleanse at a retreat. We learned, first-hand, how a diet rich in alkali-forming (green) foods can dramatically increase your energy, improve digestion and help prevent disease. One of our favorite ways to get our daily dose of organic greens is in smoothies.
A few months back, at our local Farmers Market, we met Daniel Toth of GreenFix Smoothie. One “shot” of his magic elixir and we were hooked. Green and delicious? How could this be you ask? Well, Daniel combines plenty of fresh organic greens (spinach, kale, etc.) with just the right amount of apple to produce a perfect smoothie. Not too sweet, but not at all bitter.
But even the incredible taste isn’t what keeps us coming back. Or the dollar discount you get by reusing your juice jug either. It’s how it makes us feel. It gives us a boost of energy, like those B12 shots my dad used to make me get when I was kid. (Do they even do that anymore?) Fresh greens contain the essential ingredients needed for the creation and maintenance of healthy blood cells. (The exact opposite can be said of acidic foods: white sugar, white flour, coffee, animal protein, etc.) Green foods contain life-giving elements such as: chlorophyll, vitamins, minerals, fiber and enzymes.
We’re sold on the benefits of green smoothies. So much so that we not only go back every week to Daniel’s booth to get our “GreenFix”, but we are going to get our own blender, too! Drew did a ton of research and found Vita-Mix to be the best machine out there. I’ll have him post his research, including the benefits of blending vs juicing. But if you just have to get one NOW, click on the link below to get free shipping through grow organic meals.
